September could be described as a whirlwind of emotions. I was in a whirlwind, I was the whirlwind. My thoughts consumed me, drowned me. I needed a break. I restarted THE WARMHEARTS, I distanced myself from blogging, from social media.
My trip to Europe came sooner than I expected, it was welcomed.
Only I didn’t find what I was looking for. I only found more questions, more darkening thoughts, more uncontrollable emotions. I did find beautiful places. I created beautiful memories. I took a shit ton of photographs.
Coming home into October I caught up with Dru. It was well needed. I became inspired again, I thought life was getting better. That was short-lived.
It is now November and I’m consumed by schoolwork, I’m stressed, I’m unhappy but I’m working hard to change that around.
Television shows, YouTube, sports, movies, documentaries.
REBECCA ELLIE: I found Rebecca when I was looking through basic, every day make up routines. I’ve decided I want to start venturing into the make up side of things and I was lucky enough to find her video. After watching a few more of her videos I feel in love.
BULLET JOURNAL & ART JOURNAL CLIPS: I’ve always wanted to have my own bullet journal, my own art journal and then I thought to combine the two. After searching and searching for a notebook I found one, a blank Paperback book in a newsagent I don’t often venture into. This then lead to watch several, dozens, maybe even one hundred different bullet journal and art journal clips. Jordan Clark didn’t help as I watched most if not all of her videos.
A PLASTIC OCEAN: I’ve watched this several times now. Every single time my eyes will water. A documentary for a school turned so much more. It’s opened my eyes, made me want to make a difference.
TATIANA RINGSBY: I also found Tatiana when searching for make up videos and I instantly fell in love with her editing skills. This lead me to watching several more of her videos.
HI I’M MIMI: I have loved watching Mimi for a while now. There is something about her that brings joy into watching YouTube.
I love to get up to things, these are those things that set my soul and heart ablaze.
TRAVEL: I’ve always loved to travel. I have the travel bug. Going to Europe just emphasised how much I love getting away from home, how I love exploring unknown places, how I love making memories half way across the world.
WRITING: Halfway through September I found myself writing, journaling, organising myself a whole lot more. I loved writing about anything and everything. Jotting down my day, letting my emotions rule the page, organising a to do list, creating things for THE WARMHEARTS. It all fell into place, it all came down to a simple paragraph, with a few sentences, full of words.
TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS: Photography is something I have always loved. Ever since I got my new camera, Nikon D5600, I’ve been wanting to constantly take photographs of just about everything.
TO EAT AND DRINK
The food, the drinks, the meals, the coffees… Everything that ended up inside me.
TEA: September was full of black, green, peppermint tea. I would feel warm, fuzzy, at home within myself whenever I was holding, drinking a cup or two. It made life that little bit easier. October was full of Earl Grey, two or more cups a day.
SMOOTHIES: I love smoothies, I love to make them, I love to make them into a smoothie bowl covered in fruit.
PEACH ICED TEA: In Europe all I drank was peach iced tea and water. It’s so refreshing!
PIZZA: Being in Italy I ate a lot of pizza and pasta. I came to realise how much I loved margherita pizza. So of course, I ate too much.
GELATO: Okay, my love for gelato started in Barcelona and continued all throughout Italy. I absolutely adore dark chocolate gelato.
Books, articles, blogs, stories, newspapers. The things that allowed me to escape from my own reality.
THE MESSY HEADS ISSUE I AND ISSUE II: After coming home from Europe I decided to reconnect with myself by reading the two issues I had of The Messy Heads magazine. These issues allowed me to feel inspired once again, it was just what I needed.
The clothes, the styles, the outfits that were my go tos.
WHITE DENIM SHORTS: I bought these shorts and wore them a fair bit over in Europe as the weather was really nice.
FILA JUMPER: Coming home I went shopping the day after and I was lucky enough to score a Fila jumper from mum. I’ve practically been wearing it ever since.
RED & ORANGE PANTS: I have these pants that I bought ages ago and Europe allowed me to rekindle my love for them.
BLUE & WHITE STRIPED PANTS: These pants have always been a favourite of mine ever since I bought them. I wore them on the planes over and the planes back and throughout Europe.
The music, the sounds, the voices. Everything I loved hearing throughout September and October. Everything I would listen to on repeat.
SEPTEMBER MIXTAPE: The music that flooded my ears throughout September all piled into a simple playlist for you, for me, for everyone to listen to. This is what my September looked, sounded like.
OCTOBER MIXTAPE: My October made up of the songs that were being played on repeat. Take a look, listen to how my October sounded like.
MY DISCOVER WEEKLY AND RELEASE RADAR: I’m completely obsessed with Spotify and these two mixtapes. They always bring new songs that I fall in love.
With my social media hiatus I didn’t check up on any of THE WARMHEARTS socials but with other socials such as my photography account on Instagram I was left admiring other photographers, fancy that.
@SEA_FOAMING: I have been a fan of Sea Foaming for a long time. I love the effort Abby puts into everything she does for it. The blog, the Instagram.
@BELLAHAMN: Bella is absolutely amazing and so are her photographs. Her Instagram feed inspires me, her photographs inspire me, she inspires me.
@BORIWANKENOBI: I found Bori on my explore feed when I was I don’t even know where. All I know is that I glad I did. She is someone incredible, someone who inspires me and is pretty awesome.
@SARAHBAHBAH: There is something about Sarah’s account that I just love.
And of course, everything else that I came to admire and love.
VENICE: Travelling Europe was amazing, don’t get me wrong. I love to travel. Venice took my breath away. I became really inspired. I went on a Gondola, something I’ve wanted to do ever since I found out they existed. Venice really allowed me to get back to my senses, back to myself.
THUNDER: So a week and a bit ago there was a tiny storm, it was basically a couple claps of thunder with some rain afterwards. I’ve been hanging in for a proper storm as that is when I feel most inspired.
ROSES: I’ve been taking a few photographs of the rose-bush outside the back of my house and I love the way they’ve turned out.
CLOUDS: I always have and always will love clouds. They inspire me. You will find me looking up, watching them move, admiring them.
TENNIS: Tennis has started up again and I absolutely love playing, even though I’m still not quite back into it yet. I’m just happy to be playing it again.
YOGA: I’m slowly starting to get back into yoga. I enjoy it. It relaxes me.
I’m not sure what to think of, what to expect from November.
